The week-long celebrations, organised by the Domey community—natives of the Tibetan region of Amdo where the Dalai Lama was born—will continue till July 6, a statement said.
Despite heavy rainfall, the Dalai Lama arrived at the venue in a golf cart to a rousing welcome. Around 7,000 devotees gathered across three venues to greet the Tibetan leader.
Addressing the gathering, the Dalai Lama said, “Although I am now 90 years old, I am physically healthy and well. All these years, I have worked for the good of Tibetans and the Dharma. I have also established links with people around the world and engaged in useful discussions with scientists.” “My life has been worthwhile. I have visited many countries and met all kinds of people. I feel that my life as a human being has been of benefit to the people of the world, and I dedicate the rest of my life to the benefit of others,” he added. PTI BPL HIG
