Diljit Dosanjh Pledges KBC-17 Prize Money for Punjab Flood Relief

Punjabi actor‐singer Diljit Dosanjh has stepped forward with a humanitarian pledge: he intends to donate any prize money he wins on the upcoming Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17 to support victims of the devastating floods in Punjab.

Appearance on KBC 17 and the Announcement

Dosanjh is confirmed to appear on a special episode of the Amitabh Bachchan–hosted quiz show. Although the episode has not yet been officially promoted by the show’s makers, Diljit himself confirmed his participation during an interaction with fans on social media.

When asked by a fan about his experience on KBC, Diljit responded: “It’s for Punjab flood”, using that phrase to indicate that his efforts and any winnings from the show will go toward relief efforts in his home state.

The Flood Crisis in Punjab

Punjab witnessed one of its worst flood events in decades during September 2025. Flash floods have been reported to hit more than 1,400 villages, causing over 30 fatalities and impacting between 250,000 to 350,000 residents across affected districts.

The deluge destroyed homes, devastated farmland, and claimed livestock. Many rural communities have been left without basic amenities like clean water, electricity, or shelter.

Diljit’s Prior Relief Work: Adopting Villages

This pledge is not Diljit’s first gesture of support for the flood-stricken areas. Earlier, he had adopted ten of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar districts through his initiative, the Saanjh Foundation.

Through that effort, his team has been supplying essentials like food, medical aid, clean drinking water, and solar lighting. Plans are also underway for longer-term rehabilitation and infrastructure rebuilding in those communities.

Diljit has spoken emotionally about the scale of the destruction in Punjab, lamenting the loss of lives, homes, crops, and livestock. He stressed that while the state is wounded, its spirit “is not defeated.”

Industry and Public Response

Since news of his pledge surfaced, there has been visible praise across social media and entertainment circles. Many see his gesture as a meaningful convergence of celebrity influence and grassroots philanthropy, especially given his personal stake as someone from Punjab.

It also draws attention to the crisis in Punjab, prompting questions about governmental response, rehabilitation funding, and the role of private aid in filling gaps. While larger NGOs and state agencies are active in relief, contributions from individuals like Diljit provide both direct assistance and symbolic support.

On the Work Front

Apart from his social and charitable efforts, Diljit’s creative endeavors remain in full swing. He recently released his album Aura and starred in Kufar, a collaboration with Manushi Chhillar.

In film, he is slated to appear in Border 2 alongside Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Sunny Deol. Although earlier attached to No Entry 2, he pulled out due to scheduling conflicts. He also has a project in development with director Imtiaz Ali.

Outlook

It remains to be seen how much prize money Diljit secures on KBC and precisely how the funds will be channelled into relief efforts. But the commitment itself is significant, as it bridges popular culture with disaster response.

For Punjab, reeling from losses to infrastructure, agriculture, and lives, every contribution matters. Diljit Dosanjh’s pledge adds to a growing chorus of support, reminding us that public figures can play a key role in spotlighting crises beyond headlines.
