Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has lauded the massive box office success of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, praising its “genuine” collections while taking a sharp dig at the industry’s habit of inflating figures. In a video shared on Instagram on March 23-24, 2026, Kunal Kohli congratulated the team and highlighted the film’s unprecedented achievement. He said, “Congratulations Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and Jio Studios. You all have earned 100 crores+ a day, twice. Dhurandhar has of course become the biggest hit of Indian cinema, which is wonderful.”

The Strong Message on Authenticity

Kohli went on to stress the authenticity of the numbers, stating: “This is doing 100 crores a day with genuine collections. He added that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has shown the true potential of Indian cinema, especially with desi subjects and strong storytelling, rather than relying on Western influences.

The Ranveer Singh starrer, also featuring Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, has been hailed for its high-octane action, patriotic themes, and technical brilliance.Kohli concluded by thanking the team: “Thank you Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and Jio Studios for showing us the way and the potential of our cinema.”

Industry Takes Note

The veteran director’s comments have been widely shared and appreciated, with many seeing it as a call for transparency in box office reporting. As Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues its dream run, Kunal Kohli’s words have further amplified the film’s landmark success and the shift towards authentic, audience-driven cinema.
