Bollywood actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, known for her powerful performances in films like Dangal and Sam Bahadur, made headlines on June 25, 2025, with a candid revelation about her relationship status. At the trailer launch of her upcoming Netflix romantic drama Aap Jaisa Koi in Mumbai, the actress quashed rumors of a romance with co-star Vijay Varma, declaring she’s single and humorously noting, “Good guys exist only in films” . Her blunt assessment of love and men has sparked buzz, resonating with fans and fueling social media chatter.

Setting the Record Straight

Speculation about Fatima’s personal life intensified recently, with reports linking her to Vijay Varma, her co-star in the upcoming Ul Jalool Ishq, following his rumored breakup with Tamannaah Bhatia. Addressing these rumors at the Aap Jaisa Koi event, Fatima clarified, “No one is there. No good guys. They exist only in films” . Her statement, delivered with a laugh, was interpreted as a subtle dismissal of the dating rumors, earning mixed reactions online.

Aap Jaisa Koi: Exploring Equality in Love

Fatima’s comments came during the promotion of Aap Jaisa Koi, a heartwarming Netflix romantic drama set to release on July 11, 2025, co-starring R. Madhavan. Directed by Vivek Soni, the film explores equality in relationships, a theme Fatima connected with deeply. She described her ideal relationship as one where “two people respect each other, listen to each other’s thoughts and opinions, and make equal compromises” without losing their individuality. When asked if she’d found such a partner, her quip about “good guys” being fictional underscored her single status and playful skepticism about real-life romance.

A Busy Year for Fatima

Despite her personal life grabbing attention, Fatima’s professional slate is packed. She stars in Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino, a spiritual sequel to Life in a Metro, releasing July 4, 2025, alongside Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and Ali Fazal. She also recently wrapped Ul Jalool Ishq, a Manish Malhotra production with Vijay Varma and Naseeruddin Shah, and is set to lead the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit Aruvi, directed by E. Niwas (IMDb, 2025). At the trailer launch, Fatima expressed excitement about working with Madhavan, calling Aap Jaisa Koi’s story “honest” and her character “layered”.

A Rising Star’s Journey

From her breakout role as Geeta Phogat in Dangal (2016) to portraying Indira Gandhi in Sam Bahadur (2023), Fatima has proven her versatility. Despite setbacks like Thugs of Hindostan’s failure, which led to her being dropped from two films, she remains resilient. Her upcoming projects and candid persona cement her as a relatable, driven star navigating Bollywood’s highs and lows.
