Filmmaker Karan Johar has again shut down speculation that his recent transformation was driven by Ozempic, saying he did not take the drug. Speaking on The Manyavar Shaadi Show, Johar revisited his long relationship with body image—starting with blunt comments at home and extreme dieting attempts during college.

The ‘Fat, Large’ Comment He Still Remembers

Johar recalled that while his father believed he had “puppy fat,” his mother, Hiroo Johar would disagree and call him “fat” and “large,” even dismissing the idea of him becoming a “hero.”

College Dieting Went Too Far

He also described experimenting with restrictive diets, including the GM and Atkins diets, and said he once fainted in an accounts class while following a high-protein plan.

What Actually Worked, According to KJo

Johar said a visit to the Vivamayr health resort helped him identify gluten and lactose intolerance through testing. He added that his thyroid levels were “all over the place” and he was put on thyroid medication. With dietary changes—removing gluten, switching to almond milk, and cutting sugar—he said his weight dropped.

Fitness Now

On the exercise front, Johar said he currently swims and plays paddleball.
