Jaipur, Mar 12 (PTI) Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Thursday expressed concern over the attack on former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

“I am concerned after hearing the news of a life-threatening attack on Farooq Abdullah. An attack taking place despite the presence of police and tight security is a very serious matter,” Gehlot, the former Rajasthan chief minister, said.

“The entire matter should be thoroughly investigated, and there is a need to further strengthen the security of Abdullah,” he added.

Abdullah had a narrow escape after a gunman allegedly fired at him while he was leaving a wedding function in Jammu on Wednesday night. Security personnel quickly overpowered the attacker and took him into custody. PTI SDA RHL
