Panaji, Dec 22 (PTI) – A Goa court on Monday extended the police custody of Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, by five days. The club fire on December 6 claimed 25 lives.

The siblings, who had fled to Thailand after the incident, were deported back to India on December 17. Advocate Vishnu Joshi, representing the victims’ families, said the court has extended their custody to aid ongoing investigations.

Ajay Gupta, another owner of the nightclub, remains in judicial custody, as the police did not seek an extension for him. Anjuna police have registered cases against the Luthra brothers for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other offences.

Eight arrests have been made so far, and police have initiated a Blue Corner Notice for British national Surinder Kumar Khosla, another accused who has fled to the UK.
