New Delhi, Jan 2 (PTI) The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Friday approved 22 proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving a projected investment of Rs 41,863 crore and estimated production worth Rs 2,58,152 crore.
The approved applicants include Dixon, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, Foxconn’s Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd, and Hindalco Industries. These projects are expected to generate 33,791 direct jobs.
The approvals form the third tranche under the scheme and follow an earlier clearance of 24 applications involving investments of Rs 12,704 crore. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw handed over the approval letters to the selected companies.
According to a background note issued by the ministry, the approved proposals cover manufacturing of 11 target-segment products with cross-sectoral applications in mobile phones, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive and IT hardware.
The projects will be spread across eight states — Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan — underscoring the government’s focus on geographically balanced industrial growth.
Of the approved products, five are bare components such as PCBs, capacitors, connectors, enclosures and Li-ion cells; three are sub-assemblies including camera modules, display modules and optical transceivers; and three are supply-chain items like aluminium extrusion, anode material and laminate.
The ministry said the approvals aim to strengthen domestic supply chains, reduce import dependence on critical electronic components and boost high-value electronics manufacturing in India.
