Haryana drug peddler arrested with 288 gm heroin in Shimla
Shimla, April 2 (PTI) Police arrested a Haryana-based drug peddler here on Thursday and seized 288 grams of adulterated heroin from his possession, officials said.
Police said the seizure is the largest in the district this year.
The accused has been identified as Shamshad Ahmed (42), a resident of Ambala, Haryana.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla Gaurav Singh said a special police team was patrolling near the Interstate Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Tutikandi, Shimla, when it received information about a suspicious person carrying heroin (locally called chitta) on the ISBT’s first floor.
The police team intercepted the accused and seized the contraband.
He said a case has been registered against the accused under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the investigation is underway.
He said the accused was remanded to six days of police custody by a local court. PTI/COR ASD ASD ASD
