Haryana implementing transparent, farmer-centric schemes: Rana
Chandigarh, Apr 1 (PTI) Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Wednesday said the state government is making continuous efforts to ensure transparency and efficiency in schemes for farmers.
He said there are 20,82,596 beneficiaries under the PM-Kisan scheme in the state, of which 16,33,297 have active accounts.
Farmer IDs have been created for 7,33,083 farmers so far, accounting for about 45 per cent of the total.
Rana was addressing a meeting via video conference, chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, with agriculture ministers of various states on Farmer ID and fertilisers.
He said the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal has enabled the creation of a comprehensive database of farmers, including details of land ownership, leased land and crops sown.
The minister said fertiliser distribution has now been linked to the portal, ensuring supply based on the crop grown.
Earlier, fertilisers were distributed based on Aadhaar, which did not ensure proper utilisation, he added.
He said fertilisers are now provided only to land-owning farmers, which has helped prevent misuse and promote balanced usage.
Rana said the new system has led to savings of over Rs 500 crore in the central fertiliser subsidy, indicating better management and reduced wastage.
He added that the state government will soon launch an awareness campaign in villages, with scientists and officials informing farmers about schemes and modern agricultural practices to boost income.
Chouhan appreciated the Haryana government’s initiative, calling ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ an exemplary model, and said it could be replicated across the country. PTI VSD BAL BAL
