Hera Pheri 3 has run into another hurdle, with writer Rohan Shankar confirming that he is no longer associated with the project. In a recent interview, Shankar said the collaboration did not move forward because of the film’s ongoing legal issues, adding that he could return if the project eventually takes shape under Priyadarshan.
Legal Dispute Continues to Cloud the Film
The film remains caught in a wider legal tangle over the Hera Pheri franchise rights. Recent reports say Seven Arts International, represented by producer Vijay Kumar, has challenged Firoz Nadiadwala’s claim to the franchise and argued that the rights granted earlier were limited in scope. The dispute has reached the Madras High Court, adding uncertainty to the future of the third film.
Project Still Stalled
Director Priyadarshan recently confirmed that the sequel remains stalled because of unresolved legal complications. He said the team is trying to sort the issues out before moving ahead. Another recent report also said the film is definitely not happening this year, underlining how unclear the timeline remains at the moment.
What It Means for the Film
With the project already facing uncertainty, Shankar’s exit adds another layer of doubt around its creative progress. The iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal is still central to the film’s appeal, but for now, the legal roadblocks appear to be holding the production back.
