Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has added to the praise around Dhurandhar, applauding its craft and acting after catching the film on OTT.

Kapur shared his reaction on X after watching the film on Netflix, writing: “Finally saw #Dhurandhar on Netflix. Terrific storytelling and very high level of performances even from minor roles.” He also said director Aditya Dhar “deserves all the praise he’s getting,” congratulated producer Jyoti Deshpande, and added that he’s looking forward to Dhurandhar 2.

In the same exchange, Kapur replied to a fan explaining why he missed the theatrical run, saying he was in Dubai where the film did not release.

Why the praise matters

Kapur’s endorsement carries weight given his stature and body of work, including films like Masoom, Mr. India, and Bandit Queen.

The film’s momentum

Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features a large ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna among others, and has been widely reported as a major box-office performer, with trade/trackers citing strong worldwide totals even weeks into its run.

The takeaway

Kapur’s one-line review is simple but sharp: for him, Dhurandhar lands not just on scale, but on performance depth across the board—“even from minor roles.”
