New Delhi, Dec 20 (PTI): The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Thursday commemorated 25 years of the ICSI National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance, with Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Dr Raj Bhushan Choudhary gracing the milestone event as Chief Guest in the national capital.
At the ceremony, The Indian Hotels Company Limited won the 25th ICSI National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance in the Listed Segment – Large Category. Uno Minda Limited and Greaves Cotton Limited were recognised in the Medium and Emerging categories respectively. In the Unlisted segment, Ageas Federal Life Insurance Company Limited won in the Medium Category, while Interise Investment Managers Private Limited received the award in the Emerging Category.
The 25th ICSI Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on R. C. Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, for his outstanding contribution to embedding strong corporate governance practices in India Inc.
The event was attended by Padma Shri P. T. Usha, Rajya Sabha MP and President of the Indian Olympic Association, and SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey as Guests of Honour.
Under the 10th ICSI CSR Excellence Awards, The Tata Power Company Limited was honoured in the Large Category, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited in the Medium Category, and ICRA Limited in the Small and Emerging Category. The 7th ICSI Best Secretarial Audit Report Award was presented to CS P. Eswaramoorthy for the audit of Pricol Limited, while the 5th ICSI Best PCS Firm Award went to S. C. Sharada & Associates. The 4th ICSI Business Responsibility and Sustainability Awards were awarded to L&T Finance Limited in the Service Sector and Polycab India Limited in the Non-Service Sector.
Congratulating ICSI on the milestone, Dr Choudhary said, “ICSI has been nurturing ethical practices through these awards for the past 25 years. In alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat, the Institute has positioned India Inc. as a beacon of good governance.”
Padma Shri P. T. Usha highlighted the role of governance professionals, stating that “Company Secretaries play a silent yet decisive role—ensuring compliance, advising boards, upholding integrity and acting as conscience-keepers of organisations.”
SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey underscored the growing importance of governance, saying, “As market participation deepens, the responsibility of Company Secretaries increases as custodians of stakeholder confidence, translating broad principles into boardroom practices.”
On the occasion, ICSI also unveiled several publications, including guidance notes on BRSR Core third-party assurance, Board and General Meetings, Secretarial Audit, Labour Codes, and an updated MSME Ready Reckoner 2.0.
ICSI President CS Dhananjay Shukla said the completion of 25 years of the awards reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to strengthening responsible corporate leadership, investor confidence, and building a resilient and sustainable India Inc.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, established under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and has over 78,000 members and 2.5 lakh students nationwide.
