New Delhi, Mar 24 (PTI) The Delhi government has roped in the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, to conduct a study of its route rationalisation programme aimed at improving the efficiency and service of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, officials said on Tuesday.
Last year, the transport department started a route rationalisation programme to optimise use of the existing bus fleet and expand coverage across the capital, in view of the phasing out of several 15-year-old low-floor CNG buses.
‘A route rationalisation study for the Delhi bus network will be conducted by IIT Delhi with leading partners. The 12-month study starting March 2026 till February 2027 will focus on improving efficiency, accessibility and service quality,’ a transport department official said.
With the route rationalisation exercise, the government plans to boost last-mile connectivity and metro integration, aimed at realising a commuter-friendly transport system, the official added. PTI SSM ARB ARB
