The much-anticipated wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, originally scheduled for November 23, 2025, in Sangli, Maharashtra, has been indefinitely postponed due to a sudden health scare in Mandhana’s family. The 28-year-old opener, fresh from leading India to victory in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, was set to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and close friends. However, the festivities came to an abrupt halt when Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack during breakfast preparations on the wedding morning, leading to his immediate hospitalization.

The Health Emergency: Father’s Condition Deteriorates

Shrinivas Mandhana, a prominent figure in Sangli’s business community, was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre after experiencing severe chest pain. Dr. Naman Shah, the family’s physician, confirmed the diagnosis of angina and noted that the symptoms escalated quickly, necessitating an ambulance transfer. “Mr. Mandhana was having breakfast when he suddenly felt unwell. We waited briefly, but his condition worsened, so we acted swiftly,” Shah told. The family, prioritizing his recovery, decided to halt all wedding rituals, including the ongoing mehendi and haldi ceremonies. Mandhana, known for her close bond with her father, was reportedly the first to insist on postponement, putting family health above tradition.

Palash’s Emotional Response: Also Hospitalized Amid Stress

The news took a further toll on Palash Muchhal, 31, who was admitted to the same hospital later that day due to stress-induced health issues. Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, revealed in an emotional interview: “Palash cried so much when he heard about Shrinivas ji’s condition. He was the one who decided to postpone everything before Smriti even said a word.” Amita added that Palash, deeply fond of his future father-in-law, returned to Mumbai for rest but remains concerned. “He’s stable now, but the stress is there. Palak [his sister] is with him,” she shared. The couple, who went public with their relationship in July 2024 during Mandhana’s birthday celebrations, had planned a week-long event with a cricket match between the bride’s and groom’s teams as a fun prelude.

Fan Support and Privacy Plea Amid Heartbreak

Social media flooded with supportive messages: “Prayers for Shrinivas uncle—Smriti, take all the time you need. Love wins over dates,” one fan posted, amassing 300K likes. Mandhana, who has removed all wedding-related posts from Instagram, requested privacy through a family spokesperson: “The family is focused on recovery. Please respect our space during this sensitive time.” Muchhal echoed the sentiment on X: “Health first—grateful for the love. We’ll celebrate when the time is right.”

A Love Story on Pause: Strength in Solidarity

Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s postponement isn’t setback—it’s solidarity. As health halts the haldi, it affirms: Can love linger through loss? Their resilient romance roars yes, scripting a saga where family frames forever in cricket’s ceaseless cheer.
