Inter-Dept Committee hears complaints of violation of advertisement code: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 18 (PTI) An Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) constituted by the central government hears complaints regarding violations or contravention of the programme and advertising code by private TV channels, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan said as per existing regulatory framework, all advertisements telecast on private satellite TV channels are required to adhere to the Advertising Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed thereunder.

“An Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) has been constituted by the central government, which hears complaints regarding violation or contravention of the Programme Code and the Advertising Code,” he said, replying a written question.

As per recommendations of the IDC, the minister said, appropriate action is taken against the private TV channels by issuance of advisory, warning, apology scroll and off-air orders, when violation of any provision of the Advertising Code is established.

He said the I&B Ministry also issues advisories from time to time to broadcasters for ensuring compliance to the Advertising Code. PTI ACB ACB SKY SKY
