Tirupati, Dec 22 (PTI) ISRO Chairman V Narayanan on Monday offered prayers at the Tirumala temple ahead of the launch of the LVM3-M6/BlueBird Block-2 mission scheduled for December 24.
The Indian Space Research Organisation is set to undertake the dedicated commercial mission aboard its LVM3 launch vehicle on Wednesday. The mission will deploy the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite for US-based AST SpaceMobile.
Narayanan, accompanied by senior ISRO officials, visited the hill shrine and carried a miniature replica of the launch vehicle while offering prayers. Speaking to PTI Videos, he said the December 24 launch will use ISRO’s heavy-lift LVM3 rocket, also known as “Bahubali”.
“This mission involves launching the heaviest satellite ever from Indian soil,” the ISRO chief said. He added that the BlueBird Block-2 satellite is designed to support advanced 4G and 5G communication services.
The launch marks another significant milestone for ISRO in commercial satellite deployment using its heavy-lift launch capabilities.
