Mumbai, Mar 19 (PTI) Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor on Thursday said he instantly resonated with the script of season two of his acclaimed crime-thriller series, “Farzi”.
Kapoor, who began filming for the sophomore chapter of the Prime Video show, said he is having a great fun.
“I’ve been waiting to start season two for the last two years, and I’m so excited that finally it’s happening. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. We’ve already started shooting, and this is one of the favourite characters that I’ve ever played. It’s my favourite show,” the actor said at the Prime Video slate announcement press conference.
“And, whatever they have taken me through sounds like a level up from the first season, but also it sounds very much like a natural progression of the story,” he said.
“I love the fact that they’ve organically developed,” Kapoor said.
“It almost felt like I was reminded of everything that happened in the first season. As an artist, for me, that organic connectivity always resonates. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said.
The first season of “Farzi” released in 2023 and featured Kapoor in the role of Sunny, a brilliant small-time artist, who gets propelled into the high-stakes world of counterfeiting after creating the perfect fake currency note.
It is helmed by director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
Nidimoru said, “We were breaking our head to come out with the best possible sequel. We got it. This will be grittier, darker and little crazy. We have amazing actors on board and we are blessed to work with them.” “The characters (from the previous season) will continue their journey and some new characters (will be on board too). We’re glad to be back with the (same) team,” Karishna DK said.
Released on Prime Video, it also starred Raashii Khanna and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles and marked the OTT debut for Kapoor.
The actor last appeared in “O’ Romeo” from Vishal Bhardwaj, also announced that the film will have its OTT premiere on Prime Video.
The film, which released in theatres on February 13, marked the fourth collaboration for Kapoor and Bhardwaj after having previously worked on “Kaminey”, “Haider”, and “Rangoon”.
Kapoor said he has enjoyed working with Bhardwaj on all the four movies.
“The writing that Vishal sir always leaves you feeling challenged as an actor. Its always great to collaborate with him. Also, we’ve the best person producing the film (‘O’ Romeo’),” the actor said.
Bhardwaj, who was present at the event, said, he has a soft spot for grey and anti-hero characters.
“I think often for us negative is more exciting. Like, Gabbar Singh is always exciting for me than Jai-Veeru,” the filmmaker said when asked about having grey shade and anti-hero characters.
The film also starred Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. PTI KKP SSG NB NB
