J-K LG calls for imbibing Mahavira’s teaching of non-violence amid global strife
Jammu, Mar 31 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that amid global conflicts and strife, humanity must draw lessons from Lord Mahavira’s teachings, which foster enduring peace and unbreakable brotherhood.
Addressing a gathering at the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak celebrations, Sinha extended his greetings to the people and called upon the younger generation to adopt non-violence and reform their attitudes towards nature, which he said has long been exploited as a mere utility.
“Amid global conflicts and strife, humanity must draw lessons from Lord Mahavira’s teachings, which foster enduring peace and unbreakable brotherhood,” Sinha said, stressing that true progress stems from responsibility and accountability for one’s actions.
He said building a better future requires bridging divides and fostering trust through understanding diverse cultures, ideas and experiences.
In his address, the LG highlighted Mahavira’s teachings of Ahimsa and Anekantavada, emphasising right faith, knowledge and conduct in today’s world that urgently needs compassion, peace and brotherhood.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sinha said India stands resolute under his leadership and is inspiring the world with the message that true peace is not weakness but unwavering courage. “This is a time to build bridges, not battlefields,” he said. PTI AB AB AMJ AMJ
