In a Capital FM interview promoting his remake-style film Anaconda, Black revealed he was offered Syndrome but passed due to unfamiliarity with director Brad Bird (post-The Iron Giant) and finding the character “one-dimensional.” He requested rewrites, but Bird declined. “I learned a valuable lesson… Why was I being so difficult?” Black reflected, now calling The Incredibles “one of the best movies ever made” and his favorites. Jason Lee ultimately voiced the iconic villain in the Oscar-winning film.
