Kanpur police holds meeting to review security arrangements at 27 key installations
Kanpur (UP), Mar 31 (PTI) Police in Kanpur on Tuesday conducted a high-level meeting to review security arrangements at 27 key installations, focusing on preparedness against emerging threats such as cyber attacks, drone intrusions and unauthorised access, officials said.
The meeting chaired by Commissioner of Police Raghuvir Lal at the Police Commissionerate office, was attended by management and security officials from 27 critical establishments, including industrial units, petroleum facilities and power sector entities.
“Authorities presented detailed briefings on the existing security infrastructure, covering perimeter protection systems such as boundary walls, access-controlled gates, boom barriers, tyre killer and hydraulic road blockers.
“Advanced surveillance measures, including CCTV networks, watch towers and video analytics, were also reviewed, along with fire safety mechanisms,” police said in a statement.
Deliberations focused on strengthening preparedness against emerging risks, particularly cyber attacks, drone-based threats and unauthorised intrusions.
Officials discussed measures to enhance response capabilities and plug potential vulnerabilities, he added.
The Police Commissioner emphasised the need to strengthen human intelligence and ensure strict police verification of contractual workers, labourers and other staff deployed at sensitive sites.
Officials underlined Kanpur’s strategic importance, noting the presence of defense establishments, petroleum infrastructure, power grids and major industrial hubs, which necessitated heightened security vigilance.
“Senior police officers were joined by representatives from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Special Branch and private stakeholders, including the Adani Group. Following the meeting, agencies agreed on a coordinated action plan and finalised standard operating procedures (SOPs) to address future security challenges in a structured and proactive manner,” the statement said.
