Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep has officially unveiled his 47th film, tentatively titled ‘K47’, in collaboration with director Vijay Kartikeya, best known for the Kannada action thriller Max. The announcement was made on July 7 at a press event in Chennai, with shooting already underway. Backed by Sathya Jyothi Films, a reputed Tamil production house, K47 promises to be a high-stakes action drama aiming for a December 25, 2025 release.

Why ‘K47’ — And Why Now?
Despite being immersed in the fantasy epic Billa Ranga Baasha, Sudeep explained why he chose to begin a new project this year:
“Billa Ranga Baasha is an ambitious film and will take time due to its scale. But with the uncertainty in the Kannada film industry, I felt a strong need to deliver something this year. K47 is that answer,” he stated.

“There’s always temptation to build a franchise after a successful film, but K47 is a fresh story. We didn’t want to force any connection.”
Veteran Producer Returns
The film also marks the Kannada cinema comeback of veteran producer TG Thyagarajan, who last produced Sathya Jyothi (1986), starring Dr. Vishnuvardhan. Speaking about his return, he said:
“Sudeep is one of my favourite actors. We’re proud to return with K47. Past plans with legends like Shivarajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar didn’t materialise—this one finally did.”
Addressing Industry Buzz
Sudeep also addressed industry chatter about him distancing himself from Kannada producers:
“That’s not true. Ask why big Kannada banners aren’t coming to me with compelling stories. Whoever has a good story—I’ll hold their hand.”
