Pune, Dec 22 (PTI) Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said knowledge will be the most powerful driver in India’s journey towards becoming a USD 5 trillion economy and the third-largest economy in the world.
Speaking at an event at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Gadkari said the future of any country is determined by the kind of futuristic technology and knowledge it possesses.
“The IITs and their students have contributed immensely to the country’s development and progress. Whenever the government faces a complex challenge, we turn to IITs first. Their credibility is such that the solutions they provide are widely accepted. In a nutshell, you are the capital of knowledge,” the minister said.
He stressed that while resources and existing technologies matter, what is more crucial is the ability to develop and adopt futuristic technologies. “The progress of a nation depends not just on resources, but on the knowledge and innovation it can generate. The future of any country is based on what type of futuristic technology it possesses,” he said.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Gadkari said India has set a clear mission to become a USD 5 trillion economy and the world’s third-largest economy. “If we want to achieve this goal, knowledge will be the most powerful tool,” he reiterated.
The Union minister for road transport and highways said entrepreneurship, science, technology, research, skills and best practices together constitute knowledge, and converting this knowledge into wealth will shape India’s economic future.
