Surat, Apr 1 (PTI) A major fire broke out at a textile factory in Surat on Wednesday, and efforts are being made to bring it under control, officials said.

No injuries have been reported so far in the fire that erupted at the Gopi Knitting textile factory, part of Hojiwala Industries, in the Sachin industrial area, they said.

The fire department issued a “major” call after the blaze spread quickly due to the presence of fabrics and nylon material, engulfing the entire factory, an official said.

Over a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Precautionary measures were taken to prevent it from spreading to nearby factories, he said.

While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, it has caused extensive damage to the factory, the official added. PTI COR KA NR
