Mumbai, Jun 27 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly barging into a civic-run hospital in Santacruz and attacking a patient and others with a bamboo stick, a police official said on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon at VN Desai hospital, the Vakola police station official said.
“Accused Rahul Ashok Gupta (34) entered the hospital and started hitting patient Sanjay Gupta with a bamboo stick. He also hit security guards and hospital staff when they intervened to stop the ruckus. Among those he manhandled was casualty medical officer Dr Sayyed Jilani,” the official said.
“He also ransacked furniture and damaged other items at the hospital. He was, however, pinned down by those present and handed over to police. Rahul Gupta was arrested under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions. A probe has found he runs an event management business and had some previous enmity with patient Sanjay Gupta,” the official informed. PTI ZA BNM
