Man arrested with gold biscuits at India-Bangladesh border

Kolkata, May 8 (PTI) A man was arrested at the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas with gold biscuits worth Rs 33.53 lakh, the BSF said on Thursday.

Acting on precise intelligence, personnel of the 143 battalion of BSF South Bengal Frontier intercepted a motorcycle rider at the Bithari border outpost on Wednesday, it said.

Three gold biscuits weighing 335 gram were found hidden behind the two-wheeler’s engine, it added.

The man was immediately taken into custody.

During interrogation, he revealed that he was a resident of the Hakimpur Uttarpara area and was supposed to deliver the gold to another individual in Swarupdaha, for which he was to receive Rs 3,000, the BSF said. PTI AMR SOM
