Man dies after consuming ‘spurious’ liquor in Bihar’s East Champaran

Motihari, Apr 2 (PTI) At least one person died and two others were admitted to hospital after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in East Champaran district of dry Bihar, a senior official said on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Chandu, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination, he said.

“Preliminary probe indicates that Chandu died after consuming spurious liquor in the Raghunathpur locality. Two others, Loha Thakur and Jitendra Shah, have been admitted to the nearest government hospital, and their condition is stated to be stable,” East Champaran District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal said.

The exact cause of the death will be known after the post-mortem is completed, he said.

“Police have identified the liquor supplier and he will soon be nabbed. A team of the district police and the Anti-Liquor Task Force (ALTF) are conducting searches in Parsauni, Mushhari Tola and Turkaulia. A high-level inquiry has also been ordered into the incident,” SP Swarn Prabhat told PTI.
