
Chennai, Mar 20 (PTI) Young medical professionals should contribute in research and patient care among diabetics, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday said.
The Union Minister of state (independent charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences was presented with the MV Lifetime Achievement award by the MV Hospital for Diabetes for his contributions to diabetes research, during the inaugural of the three day national conference ‘MVCON 2026’ organised by the MV Hospital for Diabetes here.
Several experts in diabetes care, research and clinical practices took part in the conference, which also showcased workshops, practical training in debridement, advanced wound care techniques among others, a press release said.
The release quoting the minister said, he feels deeply indebted to Tamil Nadu and extremely honoured to receive the MV Lifetime Achievement Award 2026.
The minister on the occasion encouraged young professionals to contribute to advancements in research and patient care, the release said.
Over 1,000 participants, including doctors and healthcare professionals, researchers in diabetes care and specialities in diabetic foot and wound management attended the conference.
MV Hospital for Diabetes Chief Executive Officer Dr Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay said, “MVCON 2026 marks the first edition of MV’s annual scientific update. It has been conceptualised as a multidisciplinary platform that reflects the evolving nature of diabetes care.” “By bringing together different specialities, we aim to improve outcomes, particularly in preventing complications such as diabetic foot, which require coordinated and timely intervention,” he added.
