Abhishek Bachchan’s sharp new look isn’t just a style switch — it’s for his role in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action thriller King. Ending weeks of speculation, Abhishek confirmed at the Global Business Summit 2026 that he’s currently shooting for the film, calling it a project he can’t reveal much about yet.

“I am just flattered that you noticed that I have changed my look… Yes, I am currently shooting for my new film, which is called King,” Abhishek said, while staying tight-lipped on character details.

What’s confirmed so far

King is shaping up as one of the big-ticket Hindi releases on the horizon:

  1. Lead: Shah Rukh Khan
  2. Director: Siddharth Anand
  3. Producers: Red Chillies Entertainment (in association with Marflix Pictures)
  4. Key cast names doing the rounds: Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji

The film’s scale, creator combo, and casting chatter are already enough to set the internet on fire — even before a full-fledged trailer drops.

Why Abhishek’s role is sparking curiosity

Abhishek’s transformation has only strengthened fan theories. The intense styling has many guessing whether he’s playing:

  1. a formidable antagonist, or
  2. a grey-shaded, high-impact character built for action and mind games

Nothing official is out yet — but the “new look” conversation has clearly worked as early fuel for the hype engine.

Release date: Christmas blockbuster slot locked

The makers have lined up King for a theatrical release on 24 December 2026, placing it right in the holiday blockbuster window. With SRK’s mass pull and Siddharth Anand’s slick action grammar, expectations are already sky-high.

The Swadesi take

This one has all the ingredients of a year-end event film — star power, scale, style, and a casting mix that blends legacy names with the next-gen spotlight. With Abhishek now officially onboard, the buzz is no longer “Is he in it?” — it’s “What is he playing?”
