Actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who was recently at the centre of a chaotic crowd incident during a promotional event for her upcoming film The Raja Saab, has posted her first message on social media since the episode, choosing to share a dance video instead of directly addressing the controversy. Meanwhile, authorities in Hyderabad are continuing their investigation into the incident, which has drawn sharp public and political attention.
Chaos at Hyderabad Mall: Event Turns Chaotic
The trouble began on Wednesday evening when organisers held a promotional event at Lulu Mall in Hyderabad to launch Sahana Sahana, a new romantic track from The Raja Saab, an eagerly anticipated Telugu film starring Prabhas and Nidhhi Agerwal. Footage from the event shows an overwhelming crowd of fans gathering for the song launch, which was scheduled for 5 p.m. but was delayed as fans packed the venue well in advance.
As the event drew to a close, the situation deteriorated. Viral videos circulating on social media show Nidhhi Agerwal being mobbed by fans while exiting the mall, with many attendees reportedly attempting to take selfies, touch the actress, and surround her as she tried to make her way to her vehicle. Several clips show security personnel struggling to form a protective path amid the pressing crowd.
While no serious injuries were reported, the visuals of the incident sparked widespread concern about crowd safety and celebrity security at public events, with many netizens calling the scenes “disturbing” and “unsafe.”
Police Take Suo Motu Action; Case Registered
In response to the chaotic situation, the Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) police in Hyderabad registered a suo motu case against both the event organisers and Lulu Mall management for failing to obtain the necessary permissions and allegedly neglecting proper crowd control and safety measures. An official stated that inviting a major celebrity and organising such a public gathering without authorisation was a significant lapse.
Inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy confirmed that police are investigating potential violations in planning and execution of the promotional event. The probe aims to ascertain whether negligence contributed to the unsafe conditions that allowed the crowd to swell uncontrollably.
Strong Reactions on Social Media
The visuals from the event have triggered an intense reaction online. Many commenters criticised the lack of crowd discipline, with videos showing fans pressing in from all directions toward the actress. Some netizens lamented the absence of basic civic sense, arguing that a stricter security presence could have prevented the uproar.
Notably, singer and activist Chinmayi Sripada publicly condemned the crowd’s behaviour, describing it as “aggressive” and unacceptable treatment of a female actor at a public event. Her remarks on social media sparked further debate about gender dynamics and safety at fan gatherings.
Nidhhi Agerwal’s First Post After the Incident
Amid the continuing controversy and legal scrutiny, Nidhhi Agerwal took to social media for the first time since the incident, choosing not to address the chaos directly. Instead, she shared a dance video of herself grooving to ‘Sahana Sahana’, the very track being promoted at the event.
In her caption on X (formerly Twitter), the actress expressed gratitude for the “overwhelming response” to the song and thanked fans for their support, without commenting on the safety issues or crowding that followed the launch.
Industry analysts and fans have interpreted this move in various ways. Some view her post as a graceful and composed response, choosing art over confrontation, while others feel it reflects a strategic focus on her professional image and the film’s promotion, rather than engaging with the backlash directly.
The Raja Saab: Context and Upcoming Release
The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi and featuring a star-studded ensemble alongside Prabhas and Nidhhi Agerwal, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026. The film combines elements of horror and comedy, and its music, composed by Thaman S, has been a major part of its promotional strategy.
As the release date draws near, the production team continues its promotional activities, but recent events have brought into focus the need for stronger planning and safety supervision at public appearances involving celebrities.
