The release calendar for March 2026 has witnessed a major reshuffle after the makers of Ustaad Bhagat Singh announced that the film will now hit theatres earlier than planned. The much-anticipated Telugu action drama starring Pawan Kalyan has been preponed from March 26 to March 19, 2026, setting up a direct box-office clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, headlined by Ranveer Singh.
The sudden change in release plans comes after another highly anticipated film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, was postponed from its earlier March slot to June 2026. With the date opening up, the makers of Ustaad Bhagat Singh quickly decided to move their film forward and take advantage of the festive window around Ugadi, which is considered a lucrative time for theatrical releases in the Telugu market.
A Strategic Move by the Makers
Directed by Harish Shankar, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and features Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna alongside Pawan Kalyan. The film is an adaptation of the 2016 Tamil blockbuster Theri, originally starring Vijay, and is being mounted as a mass-appeal action entertainer with a reported budget of around ₹150 crore.
The project has already faced multiple delays during production due to scheduling issues and the lead actor’s political commitments. Initially planned for an earlier release, the film was later fixed for March 26 before the latest decision pushed it a week ahead.
A Pan-India Box-Office Face-Off
The new release date means that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will now compete directly with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the second installment of director Aditya Dhar’s spy-action franchise. The sequel follows the success of the first Dhurandhar film, which reportedly earned over ₹1,300 crore worldwide, creating massive expectations for its follow-up.
While Dhurandhar: The Revenge is planned as a multi-language release, Ustaad Bhagat Singh primarily targets the Telugu market. Industry observers believe that Pawan Kalyan’s massive fan base in the South could impact the film’s performance in the Telugu-speaking regions, potentially intensifying the competition at the box office.
Excitement Builds Among Fans
Despite the impending clash, fans of both stars are eagerly anticipating the showdown. With two major films from different industries releasing on the same day, trade analysts expect the weekend to become one of the biggest box-office battles of the year.
As March 19 approaches, the stage is set for a high-voltage cinematic face-off, one that could redefine the early 2026 box-office race and draw audiences from across the country into theatres.
