‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ an enduring symbol of Delhi’€™s syncretic heritage: Delhi LG

New Delhi, Mar 17 (PTI) Delhi Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Monday said the ‘Phool Walon Ki Sair’ festival is an enduring symbol of Delhi’s syncretic heritage.

The LG’s office came alive with Shehnai music as the members of Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan presented customary ‘Pankha’ (floral banners) to the Lt Governor, a long-standing tradition associated with the festival.

“Honoured to mark the commencement of Phool Walon Ki Sair — an enduring symbol of Delhi’s syncretic heritage, at Lok Niwas today. The traditional pankha presentation by Anjuman Sair-e-Gul-Faroshan, with soulful shehnai, reflected timeless cultural harmony,” LG Sandhu said in a post on X.

Under the festival dedicated to Hindu-Muslim unity, people offer floral Pankha at the Dargah of Sufi Saint Bakhtiyar Kaki and the Yogmaya temple in Mehrauli.

Last year, the festival was delayed as the necessary approval was not received from the authorities. PTI SSM KSS KSS
