“With establishment of a strong water supply network, we’re not just meeting today’s demands, we’re building resilient water infrastructure for tomorrow,” Singhal said.
A release said the efforts include the proposed Balganga and Kondhane dams apart from existing sources like the Hetawane dam.
“Strategically located on Ulhas river, Kondhane dam will initially supply 250 MLD, later scaling up to 350 MLD. It will streamline water supply for NAINA. The Hetawane water supply augmentation scheme will ensure supply to CIDCO and Panvel Municipal Corporation areas,” it added.
In August 2020, the Maharashtra government sanctioned an additional quota of 120 MLD, which increased CIDCO’s present water allocation from Hetawane dam to 270 MLD, the release informed. PTI COR BNM
