PM Modi Condoles Ajit Pawar’s Death, Calls It ‘Very Shocking’

New Delhi, Jan 28 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep shock over the untimely death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who was killed in a plane crash near Baramati in Pune district.

In a post on X, Modi described Pawar, 66, as “a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect” and praised his dedication to public service. “He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra. His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Pawar, along with four others on board, died when the aircraft crashed near his hometown on Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.
