New Delhi, Dec 15 (PTI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 75th death anniversary, remembering his decisive role in uniting the nation after Independence.

“My respectful tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, on his 75th death anniversary. He dedicated his life to uniting the country,” Modi said in a message. He added that the nation can never forget Patel’s “unparalleled contribution to the creation of an undivided and strong Bharatvarsha”.

Born in Nadiad in Gujarat in 1875, Sardar Patel was a central figure in India’s freedom movement. As independent India’s first home minister, he played a historic role in integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union. Patel passed away in 1950, leaving behind a legacy that continues to shape India’s political and administrative framework.
