Purnea (Bihar), Sep 15 (PTI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched and inaugurated development projects worth around ₹36,000 crore in Bihar’s Purnea district, covering power, rail, irrigation, housing, and aviation.
Modi inaugurated the new terminal at Purnea airport and flagged off the first Purnea–Kolkata flight, while also laying the foundation stone for Bihar’s largest private sector investment — a 3×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Bhagalpur worth ₹25,000 crore.
He also laid the foundation for the Kosi–Mechi River Link Project (₹2,680 crore) aimed at irrigation expansion, flood control, and boosting agricultural resilience.
On the rail front, Modi inaugurated the Araria–Galgalia line (₹4,410 crore), laid the foundation stone for the Bikramshila–Katareah line (₹2,170 crore), and flagged off multiple trains including the Jogbani–Danapur Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat Express services.
The PM also participated in Griha Pravesh for 40,000 beneficiaries under PM Awaas Yojana (Rural & Urban) and distributed ₹500 crore in community investment funds to women-led cluster federations.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, and several union and state ministers attended the event.
