Prince Narula Addresses Mentor Row, Shares Why He Joined The 50

Reality TV star Prince Narula has opened up about his decision to participate in The 50, the high-stakes reality competition streaming on JioHotstar, after the move sparked debate online.

Why He Finally Said Yes

Prince, 35, said he was initially reluctant to return as a contestant. “I don’t do reality shows anymore as a contestant—I’ve turned down many offers,” he shared. What made him say yes, he explained, was The 50’s format, where contestants compete not just for themselves but also for their supporters. Calling it a chance to “give back” to his fans, Prince said that aspect sealed the deal for him.

He also credited his fan base for playing a crucial role in his journey. “If I can help even a few of them through this show, that would mean the world to me,” he added.

Record-Chaser or Entertainer?

When asked if his goal was to extend his streak of reality-show wins, Prince brushed it off with a laugh, saying he feels he’s already achieved that milestone. While he didn’t rule out wanting to win again, he stressed that his bigger focus is to keep the show engaging and meaningful for viewers.

He also acknowledged the presence of younger contestants and praised fresh talent. “Now there are younger people, and it’s their time to shine,” he said.

Family Life Behind the Scenes

Prince is competing alongside his wife, Yuvika Chaudhary—an equation he admits comes with both advantages and risks. While teaming up can make them an easy target, he said it also gives him strength on the show.

The couple, however, had to make a difficult choice before entering the competition: leaving their toddler at home with grandparents. Prince called it their toughest decision so far and expressed hope that their child will one day feel proud of their journey on The 50.

Response to ‘Mentor’ Criticism

Some social media users criticised Prince for competing alongside contestants he had mentored in the past. Responding firmly, he rejected any suggestion of bias or superiority. He emphasised that mentorship does not imply inferiority and pointed to the show’s diverse lineup, which includes seasoned names like Urvashi Dholakia and Karan Patel. “All these comparisons are just noise for us,” he said.

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on his evolution since his early reality TV days on Roadies and Splitsvilla, Prince described himself as calmer and more responsible today. He also teased future acting projects, promising new ventures “very soon.”
