Shimla, Mar 31 (PTI) A mass protest took place on Tuesday at Solan’s Shoolini University over the suicide of an ex-student who was allegedly harassed and denied the salary he was promised at a job he got through campus placement.

Protesters demanded justice for the student and the sacking of Avnee Khosla, the trustee and vice president of the university.

As it happened, Nitin Chauhan, an MBA student of the varsity, was placed in a company in Dehradun.

The Rohru native was promised a salary of Rs 50,000, but was paid only the half, and forced to work night shifts.

The protesters alleged that the university authorities did not take any action against the employer despite several pleas by the student, who ultimately killed himself.

Meanwhile, the police said an investigation is underway into the death. PTI COR VN VN
