Chandigarh, Mar 31 (PTI) A delegation of terrorism-affected families from Punjab called on Governor Gulab Chand Kataria here on Tuesday, and submitted a memorandum highlighting their long-pending demands and concerns.
The delegation raised key issues, including the release of a pending financial package and compensation for families of martyred police personnel and government employees, along with extension of special family pension benefits, according to an official release here.
They also sought an enhancement of the pension for widows and parents of civilian victims.
The delegation further demanded implementation of earlier policy decisions, extension of deadlines for plot allotment and regularisation, and provision of concessional or free plots to terrorism-affected families, particularly red and white card holders, said the statement.
Highlighting employment concerns, they requested relaxation in eligibility conditions to provide jobs to one family member each of the victims and sought reservations in government jobs for terrorism-affected families.
Pension support for elderly members of displaced families who migrated during terrorism and later returned to Punjab was also sought.
Listening to their concerns, Kataria assured the delegation that their issues would be considered sympathetically, the statement said.
He said he would take up the matter with the officers and departments concerned and ensure that the demands are examined positively and constructively, it said.
The delegation comprised Satinderpal Singh Sidh, Dr B R Hasstir, Prince Kumar, Raman Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, Manjeet Kaur, Shinder Kaur, Chanchal Manhas and others. PTI CHS RUK RUK
