Chandigarh, Jun 20 (PTI) Rain lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday bringing down the mercury by a few notches.
Chandigarh, which serves as the common capital for both states, recorded 9.7 mm of rain by morning, the Met department here said.
In Haryana, areas such as Rohtak, Faridabad, and Gurugram also experienced rainfall. In Punjab, light showers were reported in Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, and Hoshiarpur.
Rainfall activity in the region has increased over the past few days. The weather office forecasts that conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance over some parts of Punjab and Haryana in the coming days.
Light to moderate rain is expected at several locations on June 20 and 24, at many locations on June 21 and 23, and at most locations on June 22 and 25 in Punjab.
Similar weather conditions are anticipated in many areas of Haryana and Chandigarh on June 20; at most locations on June 21, 22, 23, and 25; and at a few locations on June 24.
Moreover, heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas on June 21, 22, 23, and 25 across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. PTI SUN MPL MPL
