New Delhi, March 10: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious vision document outlining strategic reforms, capability upgrades and organisational changes aimed at strengthening the Indian military for the future.
Titled ‘Defence Forces Vision 2047: A Roadmap for a Future-Ready Indian Military’, the document lays out a broad framework to transform the armed forces into an integrated, multi-domain and agile force capable of deterring adversaries and responding effectively to future conflicts.
The vision document was released eight months after the military conflict between India and Pakistan. Following the May 7 to 10 hostilities, all three services were asked to study the lessons from the conflict and work on measures needed to enhance operational preparedness.
According to the Defence Ministry, one of the key pillars of the roadmap is greater jointness and synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force. The document stresses stronger coordination in planning, operations and capability development to build a more cohesive and effective military structure.
The roadmap is aimed at preparing India’s defence forces for emerging security challenges and ensuring they remain ready for future warfare across multiple domains.
