Telugu superstar Ram Charan’s highly anticipated film “Peddi” is gearing up to be one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. The pan-India action drama, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, coinciding with Ram Charan’s birthday, across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions.
Plot and Setting
Set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s, “Peddi” is a compelling sports-driven narrative about a spirited villager who unites his community through sports to defend their collective pride against a powerful rival. The film is being mounted on an unprecedented scale, with producer Venkata Satish Kilaru describing it as an “epic rural sports drama” that promises to deliver a rich cinematic experience. The storyline blends action, drama, and sports elements, creating a unique cinematic experience that celebrates rural valor and community spirit.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew
Ram Charan leads the film in the titular role of Peddi, undergoing a complete physical transformation for the part. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor marks her second Telugu film appearance as Achiyyamma, Peddi’s love interest, following her earlier Telugu film “Devara” (2024). The stellar supporting cast includes Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar as Gournaidu, with Divyendu Sharma marking his Telugu debut, and seasoned actor Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles.
The technical team is equally impressive, featuring Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman for the music, cinematographer R. Rathnavelu for its visual grandeur, National Award-winning editor Navin Nooli, and production designer Avinash Kolla. The music rights have been acquired by T-Series for ₹35 crore, reflecting the film’s massive scale.
Production Highlights
Principal photography is progressing at a brisk pace, with the team working simultaneously on post-production work to maintain the scheduled release date. In a remarkable feat, the filmmakers shot a grand song sequence featuring a massive 1000 dancers in Mysore during Vinayaka Chavithi, when most others were observing the festival. The elaborate musical compositions are being choreographed by renowned choreographer Jani Master, who is known for crafting visually spectacular dance sequences.
The production team is working relentlessly to bring this ambitious vision to life. Shooting schedules have been strategically planned, with the team moving to various locations including Pune to film spectacular sequences featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor together.
Marketing and First Look
The film’s marketing campaign was unveiled on March 27, 2025, coinciding with Ram Charan’s 40th birthday. The first-look posters presented Ram Charan in a striking rugged appearance with messy hair, an unkempt beard, and a nose ring, wearing a red-striped outfit while smoking a cigar. A second poster showed him holding an old cricket bat in a rustic village stadium under floodlights, visually emphasizing the film’s sports-centric theme.
The film’s teaser trailer, released on April 6, 2025, during Sri Rama Navami celebrations, generated considerable excitement among audiences. The teaser featured Ram Charan powerfully smashing a ball with a cricket bat, establishing the action-sports narrative.
Production House and Distribution
The film is proudly presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, with production helmed by Vriddhi Cinemas and IVY Entertainment. First Show is handling the marketing, T-Series is releasing the music, and Annapurna Studios is managing the digital intermediate work.
Looking ahead, Netflix has already acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for the film, ensuring its wide digital availability following its theatrical run.
