Ranbir Kapoor has finally put a timeline stamp on Animal Park, the much-awaited sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal. In a recent interview, the actor confirmed that the sequel won’t begin production until 2027, because Vanga is currently occupied with Spirit.
“The director is right now making another film… We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” Ranbir said, shutting down speculation of an earlier start.
The Timeline Clarification
While chatter online has repeatedly guessed near-term movement on Animal Park, the director’s pipeline appears to be the key constraint. Spirit—headlined by Prabhas—was reported to begin shooting by the end of November 2025 and has since had its theatrical release date reported as March 5, 2027.
In short: Spirit first, Animal Park later—2027.

Ranbir also revealed that Vanga is thinking beyond a simple two-part follow-up. According to him, the director wants to expand Animal into a three-part franchise, with the second instalment titled Animal Park.
What Fans Can Expect: Dual Role Twist
The most explosive detail? Ranbir confirmed he will be seen playing two characters—both the protagonist and the antagonist—and explained the narrative device that enables it: the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery and becomes a body-double who starts resembling the protagonist.
A Vengeful Horizon Awaits
So yes—Animal Park is happening. But it’s not “right after Spirit wraps” in the immediate sense. It’s a 2027 floor date, with the director’s focus firmly on finishing Spirit first.
