Rs 5,000-cr power transmission projects underway in Andhra
Amaravati, Apr 1 (PTI) Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (APTRANSCO) is implementing various projects worth Rs 5,000 crore to strengthen power transmission, K Vijayanand, special chief secretary to the Chief Minister, said on Wednesday.
Vijayanand said proposals for further projects worth Rs 3,000-crore are also being prepared to strengthen the power system.
“Various projects are being implemented at a fast pace across the state under APTRANSCO, with an estimated cost of around Rs 5,000 crore, aimed at strengthening the power transmission network,” he said in an official release.
During a review meeting, he directed officials to prepare a specific implementation calendar for the construction of 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV substations within the stipulated timeframe.
He also directed them to prepare a procurement calendar for 2026-27, covering materials required for RMI, O&M (operations and maintenance) and construction activities, including carrying out procurement accordingly.
According to the special chief secretary, the state government is committed to strengthening the power sector and ensuring uninterrupted quality power supply to all categories of consumers.
Emphasising that transmission infrastructure plays a key role in achieving this objective, Vijayanand called on officials to closely monitor system performance, reduce outages, and ensure timely completion of all ongoing works to meet the growing power demand efficiently. PTI STH KH
