Actor Sanjay Dutt is gearing up for an ambitious new project titled Aakhri Sawal, where he will not only play the lead role but also serve as a co-producer. The film delves into the century-long journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), an organisation that has played a significant and often debated role in India’s socio-political landscape.

The first-look poster, released on March 26, showcases Dutt in a striking and intense appearance, designed around a question mark hinting at the film’s central theme of inquiry. Accompanied by the tagline “The question India never stopped asking,” the project promises a narrative rooted in reflection and debate.

Tracing the Evolution of RSS

Set in pre-independence India, Aakhri Sawal revisits the origins of the RSS, founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, and follows its development over the decades.

The storyline is expected to highlight defining events and lesser-known moments that shaped the organisation’s path. Reports suggest that the film revolves around a crucial historical meeting that influenced India’s trajectory, while also offering insights into the ideology and functioning of the RSS. Positioned as a “true story,” the film aims to present a perspective that goes beyond conventional narratives.

Creative Team and Ensemble Cast

The film is helmed by National Award-winning director Abhijeet Mohan Warang, best known for his acclaimed Marathi film Picasso. His involvement adds a layer of credibility and artistic depth to the project.

Apart from Dutt, the film features a diverse cast including Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Tridha Choudhury, and Neetu Chandra, all of whom are expected to play important roles in shaping the narrative. Backed by Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures and Neem Tree Entertainment, the film brings together a strong production team to support its ambitious vision.

Release Plans and Growing Interest

Aakhri Sawal is slated to hit theatres on May 15, 2026, and has already attracted considerable attention due to its subject and scale. The film arrives at a time when stories around the RSS’s 100-year milestone are gaining traction in Indian cinema, reflecting a broader interest in revisiting historical themes.

A Conversation Starter in the Making

Given its sensitive and layered subject, Aakhri Sawal is likely to spark discussions among viewers. More than just a cinematic venture, the film aims to explore complex questions surrounding history, ideology, and national identity.

With anticipation steadily building, the project raises expectations about how effectively it will balance storytelling with historical context while attempting to answer what it describes as a question that has echoed through generations.
