On September 6, 2025, the 13th South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) dazzled at Dubai’s Exhibition Centre, Expo City, honoring Tamil and Malayalam cinema’s finest talents. Hosted by Bhavana Balakrishnan and Sathish, the glamorous second day of the two-day event, organized by VIBRI Media, saw films like Amaran and Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life dominate, drawing 467 million social media users’ attention in India’s ₹101 billion entertainment industry. With stars like Sai Pallavi and Prithviraj Sukumaran clinching top honors, SIIMA 2025 celebrated cinematic excellence.

Tamil Cinema’s Triumph

Amaran, a biographical war drama, emerged as a juggernaut, bagging Best Film, Best Director for Rajkumar Periasamy, and Best Actress for Sai Pallavi’s poignant portrayal. GV Prakash Kumar won Best Music Director for Amaran’s stirring score, while Haricharan’s “Hey Minnale” earned Best Playback Singer (Male). Maharaja shone with Anurag Kashyap as Best Actor in a Negative Role and Nithilan Saminathan as Critics’ Choice Best Director. Lubber Pandhu celebrated new talent, with Bala Saravanan (Best Actor in a Comedy Role), Harish Kalyan (Special Rising Star), Sanjana Krishnamoorthy (Special Fresh Face), and Tamilrasan (Best Debut Director). Karthi and Dushara Vijayan won Critics’ Choice Best Actor and Actress for Meiyazhagan and Raayan, respectively.

Malayalam Cinema’s Masterclass

Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life swept the Malayalam category, with Prithviraj Sukumaran earning Best Actor (Male) and Blessy taking Best Director for their survival epic. Manjummel Boys clinched Best Film, while Urvashi won Best Actress for Ullozhukku. Jagadeesh (Best Actor in a Negative Role, Marco) and Shyam Mohan (Best Comedy Role, Premalu) rounded out the winners, with K.S. Harisankar’s “Kiliye” from ARM securing Best Playback Singer (Male). Veteran Sivakumar received the Exemplary Achievement Award, and Trisha was honored for 25 years in cinema, drawing emotional cheers.
