Sonam Kapoor Ahuja marked her baby shower with a Seemantonnayan ceremony—also widely known across India as godh bharai/seemantham/shrimant—celebrating the mother-to-be and the life she carries.
According to reports, the celebration was hosted at the Kapoor family home in Mumbai on February 8, 2026, with close friends and family coming together for the rituals and festivities.
Seemantonnayan: What the Ritual Symbolises
In her note, Sonam described Seemantonnayan as the hair-parting ritual and referenced it as the third of the sixteen sacred sanskars—a blessing ceremony centred on love, protection, and the celebration of new life.
Sonam’s Note of Gratitude
Sharing glimpses from the ceremony, Sonam said the day felt especially meaningful because her closest circle showed up for her—adding that she felt “so held.”
She also thanked her mother Sunita Kapoor, mother-in-law Priya Ahuja, and sister Rhea Kapoor for organising the celebration.
Family, Friends, and a Starry Guest List
The gathering brought together the Kapoor family and friends from the industry, with reports noting attendees such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Farah Khan, and others.
The Look: Custom, Soft, and Handcrafted
Sonam also spoke about her outfit for the ceremony—crediting designer Shehla for creating a custom look crafted with handwork and detailing, and acknowledging Rhea’s support.
Pregnancy Journey: A New Chapter for the Ahuja-Kapoors
Sonam and Anand are already parents to Vayu (born in August 2022) and are now preparing to welcome their second child.
