Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment is backing Netflix’s upcoming investigative crime drama Kartavya, headlined by Saif Ali Khan. The project was announced at Netflix India’s Next on Netflix 2026 showcase, with the first look released on February 3, 2026.

First Look: Saif Ali Khan as Pawan Malik

In Kartavya, Saif steps into the role of police officer Pawan Malik, positioned as a morally conflicted man navigating the personal cost of professional duty. Netflix’s teaser line frames the core theme: “Dharm aur karm ke yuddh mein, kya kartavya jeet payega?”

What We Know About the Story So Far

Official descriptions keep plot specifics under wraps, but the premise centres on a police officer facing mounting threats and being forced to decide how far he will go to uphold duty while protecting his family.

Cast and Crew

  1. Director / Writer: Pulkit (who previously collaborated with Netflix and Red Chillies on Bhakshak)
  2. Producer: Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment
  3. Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Rasika Dugal (reported as his wife), Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Dwivedi (acting debut), Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari

Why the SRK–Saif ‘Reunion’ Angle Works

Trade coverage describes the collaboration as a “reunion of sorts,” given Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan last shared screen space in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)—this time, with SRK’s banner backing Saif in front of the camera.

Release Window

Kartavya is slated to stream on Netflix in 2026, with a specific date yet to be announced.
