Suhana Khan Caught in Legal Snarl Over Alibaug Land Deal

Suhana Khan

Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, has become the center of a legal investigation following a land acquisition in Maharashtra’s Alibaug region. Reports reveal that the 24-year-old, known for her acting debut in The Archies (2023), purchased agricultural land in Thal village that may have breached statutory norms. The property valued at approximately ₹12.91 crore was acquired from the Khote family on May 30, 2023. However, authorities claim that the required governmental permissions were never secured for this transaction.

Allegations and Legal Concerns

According to officials, the land in question is classified as agricultural and carries a ‘no-sale’ clause, meaning transfer without appropriate approval from the District Collector is forbidden under Maharashtra’s land revenue regulations. Despite this, the sale reportedly proceeded without such clearance, triggering scrutiny.

Notably, Suhana is said to have paid ₹77.46 lakh in stamp duty, and the sale was registered under Deja Vu Farm Private Limited, a company owned by her grandmother (Gauri Khan’s mother) and aunt (her sister-in-law). Pressure is mounting as legal experts, including advocate Vivekanand Thakur, assert that the violation of transfer conditions warrants serious legal consequences.

Transaction Details & Ownership

The property fell under private ownership soon after the 2023 deal. The registration of the transaction under a corporate banner, Deja Vu Farm Pvt Ltd. adds complexity, particularly since it lists Suhana as a “farmer,” a status that may be instrumental in claiming entitlement to agricultural land under state law.

Further complicating matters is the revelation that this land purchase was not the only real estate acquisition by the Khan family in Alibaug. The Deccan Chronicle report points to a second property purchase worth about ₹10 crore on the Alibaug beachfront within one year, raising questions about the scope and compliance of these transactions.

Investigative Developments

As of early September 2025, this case remains under active investigation. Authorities are evaluating the legality of the sale, whether permissions were bypassed, and if the ‘farmer’ classification was misused. Legal proceedings may include cancellation of the sale, imposition of penalties, or further regulatory measures if serious irregularities are confirmed.

Suhana and her representatives have yet to issue a public statement addressing the allegations. Media attention now sharply focuses on whether the inquiry will lead to administrative or judicial action and how the star kid will respond amid mounting scrutiny.

Career Impact & Public Perception

This controversy arrives at a pivotal time for Suhana. Beyond her debut in The Archies, she has touted a steady rise in Bollywood, signing onto Siddharth Anand’s upcoming project King and brand endorsements with Maybelline and Lux. The legal storm could affect not just the rollout of her next film but also her broader public image and brand partnerships.

For now, the unfolding investigation is a reminder of how celebrity stature does not shield from legal accountability, especially in matters involving regulated land transactions.
