Two stolen vehicles recovered, two held during traffic checks in Delhi’s Karol Bagh
New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) Two people were apprehended for stealing vehicles by the Delhi Traffic Police during routine enforcement drives in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, an officer said on Tuesday.
In one incident, traffic personnel deployed at Shadipur Chowk intercepted a motorcycle after its rider attempted to evade checking at around 1:20 pm on March 30. The staff grew suspicious and managed to stop the vehicle, apprehending two 20-year-olds, Deepak and Gourav Kumar.
Upon verification, the motorcycle was found to have been stolen from the jurisdiction of Greater Noida in 2022, police said, adding that the accused and the vehicle were handed over to Ranjit Nagar Police Station for further legal action.
In a separate case on the same day, a traffic constable noticed an unclaimed D-Van parked on a footpath near Kamal T-Point on New Rohtak Road. Verification revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the jurisdiction of DBG Road police station earlier this year.
The recovered vehicle was handed over to the investigating officer concerned for necessary legal proceedings, the officer said.
“The action reflects the vigilance and proactive role of traffic personnel, who, besides regulating vehicular movement, are also contributing to crime detection and prevention,” said DCP Traffic (Central Range) Nishant Gupta.
He further added that the Delhi Traffic Police remains committed to ensuring safer roads and strengthening coordinated enforcement efforts across the city. PTI SGV SGV SKY SKY
